BIGFOOT RENDEZVOUS
Pagan Island
Watch these girls dance and make unashamed love!Horribly cheesy trailer for the 1961 Tiki-sploitation film Pagan Island. It's nice to see that Ed Wood didn't have a monopoly on stilted voiceover narration. A quick check of IMDB finds that actress Allison Louise Downe also wrote the screenplay for the Herschell Gordon Lewis "classic" Blood Feast. And, of course, actress Nani Maka plays a character named...Princess Nani Maka. Go watch. You'll love it.

This Movie Really Stinks
Bad films inspire olfactory terms. Exiting a bomb with their noses curled, people will say, "Whew, that stunk!" or "Man, did that reek!" One-word reviews would include "rotten," "offensive," "garbage," "putrid" and, simply, "P.U."
Now, a telecommunications company is adding actual smells to a movie. A revival of an old idea that failed the sniff test 46 years ago, the latest version of scented cinema is being piped into Japanese theaters starting this weekend to accompany showings of "The New World."

Gary McKinnon hacked into Pentagon, army, navy and Nasa computer systems looking for evidence of UFO. He may end up in Guantanamo Bay for his trouble. He never did find anything about anti-gravity but he did stumble on intriguing details on extra-terrestrial activity. Computers in Building 8 of the Johnson Space Center, for example, contained satellite pictures showing what looked like alien space ships. But Mr McKinnon never saw these as closely as he would have liked.
Before he could download them fully, someone on the space center computer system noticed the unauthorised access on the network and cut the connection.
Security at the space center was subsequently tightened to the extent that Mr McKinnon could not re-enter. He did, however, find lists on other computer systems that referred to "non-terrestrial officers" and lists of ships that did not correspond to anything the US had in the air or on the seas - leading Mr McKinnon to suspect the existence of a secret space army.Another goodie via the Anomalist.

$cientology Round Up
I may have posted this before but lately I've been getting a lot of requests from people to "explain $cientology", as if such a thing was possible without getting your thetans all riled up. Here is an interview with L. Ron Hubbard, Jr., from 1983 that you might find enlightening. There's a lot about Hubbard's occult activities there. And here is an article that posits a link between the "church" and the CIA, which makes a lot of sense when you consider how powerful Hubbard's intelligence gathering capabilities were (are). And if you have the time I highly recommend the book A Piece of Blue Sky, which pretty much blows Hubbard's bullshit right back to Xenu. And I guess while you're at it you should probably read Bare-Faced Messiah, another fine expose of Hubbard machinations and deceits. Now you know more than Tom Cruise. Much of this is via Operation Clambake, which is very informative, and the Rigorous Intuition Discussion Board, which is a hell of a lot of fun.
