Lawrence woman to sell off boxes of Beat Generation memorabilia

And the Beat goes on ... sale.

A woman who befriended Beat Generation author William S. Burroughs even before his move to this college town planned a garage sale Saturday to sell off 30 boxes of memorabilia from that era - books, art and clothing, many of the items autographed by the author of "The Naked Lunch."

"I know this is going to sound weird, but I finally figured out why I am doing this," Patricia Elliott Marvin said. "It's because I miss (Burroughs). I have all this stuff, sitting dead in a box. That's not where it belongs.
