Historic 1927 flight still a mystery

Lauded as the first aviator to fly solo across the Caribbean, the gutsy 25-year-old from Columbia was aiming for Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, a 4,600-mile flight he began from Brunswick, Ga., on Aug. 25, 1927. He never made it.
