Two events of recent months, both of which fulfilled these criteria to a tee, were the abduction (or murder) of Madeleine McCann in May, and the murder of Meredith Kercher in November. The two incidents share other things in common, too, as we shall see. Just as Madeleine died- or was taken- on the evening of May 3rd, 2007, very close to the climax of the festival of Beltane, Meredith was murdered in the evening of November 1st: the calendrical Samhain, or All Hallow's Day.
