Guy Ritchie to direct edgy new version of Sherlock Holmes

British director Guy Ritchie is on the case to helm Warner Bros' gritty big-screen adaptation of Sherlock Holmes, which could dump the deerstalker and pipe and turn the character into more of an action hero.
