Maori seers report 33 unmarked graves near Hastings

33 suspected grave sites have been found near Hastings by the New Zealand Transport Agency after matekite, or Maori seers, reported spirits lingering around a proposed expressway.

The NZTA told 3 News it is standard practice for them to pay thousands of dollars for a cultural audit which includes using matekite to divine the dead.
