From the archives: Serial goat killer stalking Mexico

Forget the economic crisis. Never mind Mexico's roller-coaster relations with the U.S. The Big Story these days is a high-flying, bloodsucking, goat-stalking entity that's either from outer space, a toxic dump or some secret Pentagon laboratory. Or, say Mexico's legions of doubters, from nowhere at all except the not-so-deep recesses of overactive imaginations.

Reports of El Chupacabras, "The Goatsucker," have swarmed across Mexico all month, with attacks alleged in more than half of the nation's 32 states.
